About DreamTree Project

The Dreamtree Project is the Indian dub fusion project of ethno electronic master Adham Shaikh and Sitar virtuoso Uwe Neumann, featuring tablas,dhol,and electronic percussion by Gurpreet Chana and special guests Marty Carter and Ben Johnson. This dynamic trio weaves a magic carpet ride of Classical Indian raga afloat a dub cloud of swirling tabla, mystical flutes, spacey beats and booming basslines. Beyond notions of East meets West, Dreamtree creates a powerful audio and visual environment for dancers and listeners alike.

Adham Shaikh has over the years had the pleasure to work with many talented musicians on stage and in the studio. Recording a wide variety of world instrumentation, he has woven the sounds of India, Bali, Australia, Africa, Jamaica, the Middle East, Slovakia, Scandinavia, Turkey and North America into all aspects of his production.

Playing live, Adham Brings the sensibility of the global village to the stage as both a solo performer and alongside a collective of world musicians. Fusing together soundscapes of the ancient and the immediate with the tribal dub grooves, his renowned sets bridge the gap between the organic and the electronic. Often collaborating with dancers and VJs, his shows are an uplifting and captivating multimedia experience for all ages

Uwe Neumann has lived and studied full time for 10 years in India with the sitar maestro Pandit Indranil Bhattacharya and received a Bachelors and Master-of-Music Degree on Sitar from Indian University in Shantiniketan. He had studied classical guitar and jazz-rock in Germany 1974-86. He founded Ragleela in 1990 and had many classical, world- music and television concerts all over India,

including a unique performance at the Millennium-Concert for H.H. the Dalai Lama in Benares, at the Alliance Francaise in Pondicherry, at the Sri Aurobindo Institute of Culture with tabla virtuoso Subhen Chatterjee and the prestigious hall Rabindra-Sadan in Calcutta.

Gurpreet “The Tabla Guy” Chana combines a deep knowledge of Indian classical music and a lifetime of Canadian musical experiences

into a unique approach to percussion. He is both a spellbinding solo performer and a consummate collaborator. He has recorded with internationally renowned Grammy & Juno Award Winner Nelly Furtado [“Childhood Dreams”, “Forca” from Album: Folklore] and on a track with Wyclef Jean [DJ Rekha’s “Basement Bhangra Anthem”]. He has performed and/or recorded with artists such as Bombay Dub Orchestra, Gingger, Jorane, Ron Allen, Juno Award Winner Kiran Ahluwalia, Juno Award Nominee Tanya Tagaq, composed music for Feature Films “Cooking with Stella” [Director: Dilip Mehta, Music Composer: Mychael Danna & Amritha Fernandez-Bakshi], “Amal”

[Director: Richie Mehta, Music Composer: Dr. Shiva] and “Bhopal: The Search for Justice” [Director: Peter Raymont & Lindalee Tracey, Composer: John Welsman].
