Quilombera Ensemble

Quilombera Ensemble is a dynamic musical project rooted in the vibrant traditions of the Colombian Caribbean coast. Based in Nelson, British Columbia, the ensemble performs a varied repertoire that blends the driving rhythms of Afro-Colombian folklore — such as cumbia, bullerengue, mapalé, fandangos, etc — with contemporary harmonic textures and original compositions.

Quilombera was founded by Bruno Bosio in Canada as a continuation of his artistic journey that began with Suma Qamaña, an Afro-Colombian ensemble he directed in Argentina from 2013 to 2019. With Quilombera, he brings together musicians from diverse backgrounds to reinterpret Afro-Colombian rhythms through original compositions and contemporary arrangements. The ensemble’s vibrant performances celebrate cultural roots, migration, and community through music.

The group is currently working on a new original album, set for release in June 2026, continuing their journey of musical exploration and connection through Afro-Colombian sounds.

“Hoy Se Festeja” is a celebration of community, shared joy, and collective memory. Rooted in rhythm and tradition, the song honors the legacy of our ancestors and the cultural inheritance that continues to live through music, dance, and gathering. It’s an invitation to come together, move as one, and celebrate who we are and where we come from.
